Update on ‘Skimmer Sack’ bean bag
On safari, camera stability is critical. This is especially true considering many use large telephoto lenses and light is low, driving slower shutter speeds. Generally, you are shooting from a vehicle, so tripods are out. Most folks rely on the trusty bean bag. In a prior article, we summarized many of the available options. Since then, another option has come on the market – the Skimmer sack.
In a previous article, we provided the NatureScapes.net press release on their new, large bean bag called the Skimmer Sack. We promised to get back with a review and still hope to. Until then, we will continue to provide feedback on this bag as well as any other major bean bag. To date, the only thing we have found is the YouTube video below. I think it helps one get a feel for the size. The videographer also shows many of the way’s to mount camera to the product. I think his bag is a little too plump, but it’s easy to adjust that by changing the fill quanitit. Unfortunately, none of the footage is ‘in vehicle’ so the jury remains out until we get more information.
