I have to say that I would never in a million years thought of using something like this in order to take that photo perfectly from a car, I always have terrible bouts of shakiness when taking certain photos and this is just an ideal way of doing so, those photos are really gonna coming out a lot better, when using these bean bags.
Its amazing to see that there are so many different kinds of the bean bag of photography, who would have thought that these little bean bags would come in so handy when doing photography.

Great article thanks for the advice on using bean bags, will have to seriously try this out next time I am in the bush battling to take photos

Kind regards

Thanks for the good work. I'm shopping for a bean bag and this was a great help. I'm going for the Kenesis or Vested Interest as it seems the most versatile and easy to deal with.

I've come up with a lightweight Perspex holder which push fits on the window and has a removable suede beanbag attached. It is unique in that it can be left in place whilst driving in the parks, instantly ready for that once in a lifetime shot. I use it with a 170-500 mm Sigma zoom with great success. Have a look at the webpage if interested.

The product is now 4 years old, The very first one was sold to a branch manager of Jessops.... he thought there POD was not up to much!! The product comes in 3 sizes, it has been used worldwide on safari's, artic expeditions etc most leading magazines have tried and tested it and have praised its performance and quality.

                   Best Regards,

Dave, I know you are a fan of The Pod - Red. As noted in the article, I have also used The Pod on a self-drive safari. Seemed fine for my Canon 100-400 and is portable as you note. For any larger lens than the 100-400, it would be too small. It is also not as stable for very slow shutter speeds.

Anon, Thanks for the comments. While I agree the prices seem high, I want a solid support for my multi-thousand dollar lens on my thousand dollar camera body on my multi-thousand dollar safari. In that context, it is money well spent. BTW, I have also struggled with the high cost of quality tripods ... but I justify that a tripod AND a beanbag is a lifetime investment in my not so cheap hobby.
