Can you tell the difference in these two images?

There is a difference, though subtle.  On Mom, we lowered the lighting just a bit on the body to try and separate the ear.  The adjustment was made by “capturing the body” and creating a separate layer.  Then the curve was slightly adjusted.  Before flattening, a mask was added to blend the edges back in with the original. These little changes add up.

Photo Tip:

  • When editing a monotone subject, make sure all body parts appropriately separate.
